Our story
Our history of floral workshops with you
Where it all began
After struggling to find a modern floristry programme locally, I applied for a scholarship to study floristry at McQueens Flowers in London. I didn’t think I’d get it… but my dream came true! After being named a finalist, I got ready to head over in 2022.
Studying the art of floral design
The experience of studying at McQueens completely changed the way I saw flowers... not just as arrangements, but as an art form. It inspired me to create something similar in the City of Melbourne.
Our workshops began at the stunning Villa Alba Mansion, Kew, with an afternoon of cake, fruit styling and floral design.
Building the vision
As the classes grew, so did the dream. Alongside weddings and event floristry, I started expanding our workshop programme to include a fun and varied repertoire of classes that reflected our brand’s signature style.
I also started offering private workshops for corporates and brand activations, bringing a creative, flower-filled twist to launches, team days, and in-store events.
Up until this point, everything has been run out of borrowed spaces, Collingwood pop-ups, and on-site brand partnerships. But I always imagined a calm, light-filled studio. A place where people could slow down, create with their hands, and leave feeling a little lighter.
Carlton studio incoming
This year, I received a Small Business Grant from the City of Melbourne to help bring the studio to life. Big moves like this can feel risky when you’re a small business, but with the grant’s support, I finally get to create the space I’ve always dreamed of.
This September, I’ll be opening the doors to my very own studio in Carlton. It’s designed for regular workshops, creative gatherings, and plenty of floral fun. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an aspiring florist, there’ll be a seat at the table for you.
Alongside growing Urban Antidote’s event work, I’m so excited to build an education hub. It will be a place to share my love for bold, modern floral design, and bring people together through flowers.

What’s Coming Up
The future of our floral workshops in Melbourne
From September, I’ll be launching a fresh line-up of floral workshops to celebrate the opening of the new studio. And you’re invited of course.
Whether you're picking up flowers for the first time or levelling up your skills, there'll be something for every style and stage, including:
— Reflexed roses, hand-tied bouquets, and vase arrangements
— Wedding and event floristry for aspiring pros
— Private workshops for special celebrations. Dedicated workshop experiences for hens parties, birthdays, and bridal showers. With three creative options (flower crowns, hand-tied bouquets, or vase arrangements) it’s the perfect way to mark the moment with flowers and friends.
You’ll be able to book from a selection of monthly dates online. If you’ve got something else in mind, just get in touch and we’ll see what we can do.
